LATEST NEWS: QuadTech Releases a NEW and Improved Website!
In working directly with our customers, we have discovered some of the things you want, and need from our website. We've taken your feedback and developed a website that will make it easier for you to find information on QuadTech Products and Services. We have added value to our site in many areas including, but not limited to: bigger and better product and accessory images, more application notes, articles, a discussion forum, a recommended books section available for purchase through Amazon.com and much more!
FEATURED ARTICLE:
"Minimize Measurement Errors in Component Test Fixtures" - As seen in the November Issue of Test and Measurement World Magazine. - By Robert Brown, QuadTech's Director of EST Products
Ever perplexed by the source of error in your measurements? You've got a highly accurate instrument yet you're still not getting precise data? Take a look at your test cables and fixtures. You may be surprised at the potential sources of error that lurk here.
THE REFERENCE DESK: APPLICATION NOTES
Advanced Techniques for Dielectric Analysis
All electrical components are not created equal. Non-destructive testing of a components dielectric makeup is commonplace in production where it is necessary to characterize a device without destroying it. Some dielectric material cannot withstand even limited current without damage so an alternate method is needed to test these materials.
Measuring Capacitors with the QuadTech 1865 Megohmmeter/IR Tester
Why is capacitor testing such a volatile discussion topic? Because these devices are in constant change when Employed in a circuit. Measuring the dielectric resistance of a capacitor will reveal the quality of the material it is made of and help determine its suitability for a particular application.
Multi-Terminal Impedance Measurements
Two-terminal, 3-terminal, 4-terminal? What's the difference? Why do those bridges make so many connections? Series impedance in the leads and shunt impedance across the unknown. Where do they come from? Check out this tutorial on multi-terminal impedance measurements to find out how error is reduced or removed depending upon connection to the device under test.
Mutual Inductance Measurements with a 4-Terminal LCR Meter
An LCR meter can give highly accurate measurements of inductance (L) but how do you measure mutual inductance (M) with a 4-terminal LCR Meter? Use a transformer as illustrated in this application note and calculate the M using the known voltage and current.

MEDICAL COMMUNITY NEWS UPDATE
As many of you know, this past September we expanded our EST product family with the introduction of the Guardian 6100 Medical Production Safety Analyzer. We couldn't be happier with the overwhelming response the instrument has received within the Medical Industry! Not only have we had a favorable response from leading Medical companies currently using the instrument, but the 6100 has also been chosen as Editor's Choice by medicaldesignonline.com, featured on ChipCenter.com, and reviewed by Medical Design News Magazine. For information on the Guardian 6100 click here.
WHAT'S NEW IN MEDICAL?
In response to questions from customers who use our Guardian 6100, we've developed a "6100 Quick Start sheet". In order to make your 6100 experience even easier, we've condensed the operating procedures into 4 manageable pages. This new Quick Start Sheet walks you through cable set-up and aids in programming test features on the 6100.
